What is Waxy Maize Starch (WMS)?
Waxy maize starch is a complex, long-chain, high molecular weight carbohydrate that is free of sugar and lactose. Our Waxy Maize Starch has a high percentage of Amylopectin (95-99%) and a low percentage of Amylose (1-5%). Amylopectin molecules are larger, heavier and easier for the stomach to digest. Therefore, foods that have little Amylose and lots of Amylopectin are more rapidly digested and absorbed.
What are the Benefits of Waxy Maize Starch (WMS)?
Waxy maize starch has a much higher molecular weight than dextrose and maltodextrin, as a result it therefore passes through the stomach much faster, eliminating the risk of stomach discomfort. Not only this, but WMS acts like a pump, pulling the nutrients along with water into the body tissue at the correct speed and osmolality for your body to fully utilise. This means when consuming WMS there is no stomach cramping and no bloated feeling. Since WMS is absorbed so rapidly it can easily be consumed whenever a fast release of energy is required.

Waxy maize starch is suitable for almost all individuals including vegetarians and vegans. Ideally, WMS is suitable for those who are physically active and want to increase their energy levels through the intake of complex carbohydrates.
How to take WMS
WMS is soluble in water, mixes best with a shaker but can also be shaken and consumed immediately. It has a neutral taste and is an excellent consumed on its own or when added to formulas such as protein shakes and pre workout drinks.

Whilst this product is manufactured using ingredients and processing aids suitable for the vegan diet, please note that dairy powders are also used within the same production facility and cross contamination may occur at very small levels.

Carbohydrates contribute to muscle recovery† after high intensity and/or endurance exercise. Therefore in order to replenish muscular glycogen stores we recommend adding 1 1/4 large scoops (50g) to 150-250ml of water or your favourite beverage in a iFit shaker within 4 hours of exercise. †Beneficial effect is obtained through consumption of carbohydrates, from all sources, at a total intake of 4 g per kg body weight, at doses within the first 4 hours and no later than 6 hours of exercise.
